Simple Makes A Statement

Neutral colors are always flattering. Start simple then build off of it. Choose something that makes you feel confident. Start with color. What color do you feel best in? Start with either neutrals or light colors such as beiges or whites. Look for the colors that you have the most of in your closet. That is most likely the color that you feel best in. Stay away from the crazy patterns or the big logos. Pick out your favorite top or dress in your favorite color and start from there.

Pop of Color

You found your starting point, your first layer, that top or dress that makes you feel like your best self. Now what? Nothing makes a better statement than a pop of color thrown in against a nice neutral piece of clothing. Try something unique like gold or burnt orange. Think of your favorite color, the one that represents who you are. Maybe that is a bold red lipstick, a hot pink heel or statement earrings. Maybe it’s your blue hat, pink jacket or green shoes. Choose whatever piece will show off your personality the most.

However, avoid the neon’s and the extremely bright colors. This can make the photos look a bit off after the photos are edited. Turn to a different tone of the color instead, maybe go a bit warmer instead of the crazy neon. Whatever your color choice, make it stand out and make it unique to you.

Make It Flow

Ladies, show your feminine side. Wear those flowy dresses or twirly skirts. You can have so much fun with this in your shoot as your dress flows in the wind. If you are a girly girl, dresses and skirts will be your friend during this shoot. Channel your inner princess when picking out your dresses to make those dreams a reality in your upcoming shoot.

Coordination is Key

If you are planning on having a group session, the best way to get amazing photos with your group would be to coordinate your outfits. Choose a color scheme and have everyone plan around it. This does not have to be your shirt or dress, it can be your statement pieces too, like boots, hat or scarf.

You do not all have to wear the same shade of one color but stick to the color scheme. A little variation in tone of color will make the pictures pop even more. Here are just a few color schemes that work well!

Watch the Weather

Dress for the weather. Look ahead to see what the weather will be like on the day of your shoot and dress accordingly. Layers are always a great idea, especially when weather is unpredictable. Bring sweaters, jackets and scarves to layer when you get cold. They will keep you warm and look great in your shoot. It’s a win, win. You also want to make sure that you are comfortable during your shoot, so your photos can turn out the best they can be. The last thing you want is a forced smile as you freeze.

Make It You

No matter what you wear, make sure that you feel your best in it, and make sure that it portrays who you are. A great way to show that is by what you wear. Make sure that you feel confident, beautiful/handsome, and your best self and your portraits will portray on the outside, what you feel on the inside.
